SeaWiFS Global Biosphere September 1997 - August 1998
The first year of near-daily global ocean color and land vegetation data from SeaWiFS will be completed in September 1998. Derived weekly maps of surface-ocean chlorophyll distributions reveal dynamic seasonal patterns in primary production during the 1997-98 El Nino. The time series will be used to understand and predict the response pf marine ecosystems to environmental change.
