Summary
DescriptionOdeon Cinema Carlton Street Toronto 1972.jpg
English: The Odeon Carlton in 1972, on Carlton Street in Toronto, Ontario, Canada, displaying marquee for The New Centurions (1972). Opened as the Odeon Toronto in 1948, the name was changed to the Odeon Carlton in 1956. It was an enormous theatre, and in later years it could no longer attract sufficient crowds. It closed in 1973, with "White Lighting" being the last film shown. It was offered to the City of Toronto for one dollar as a performing arts centre, but the City refused as the theatre did not have enough room for a backstage area. It was demolished later in 1973 and replaced by a non-descript apartment building.
