DescriptionBlueRidgePastures.jpg
Computer-generated 3D landscape rendering made with Visual Nature Studio 2.5 from 3D Nature. This is a study in Appalachian atmospherics, colorations are based on a series of digital photographs taken in western North Carolina and southwestern Virginia one day in May. Both exponential and volumetric atmospheres are used to create the complex effect. Haze has distance-based color textures on both the terrain and clouds to match the photos. Sunlight color includes a fractal noise pattern to simulate cloud shadows with a cool dark light in the shadows. The trees of the Blue Ridge are under attack by insect and disease and many have died leaving grey reminders throughout the shady coves and sun-gilded slopes.
