English: The 50 United Nations Plaza Federal Office Building, located on United Nations Plaza between Hyde and McAllister Streets, was built in 1934-36 on land donated by the City of San Francisco, as part of the city's master plan to revitalize the city's Civic Center after the devastation caused by the earthquake and fire of 1906. The building was designed by Arthur Brown Jr. in the Second Renaissance Revival style. The building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places, and is a contributing property to the San Francisco Civic Center Historic District, which is a National Historic Landmark. |
