English: Ducati Mach 1, once owned by Stewart Doig. Build date is October 1965.

I purchased this machine in late 1973 from Ron Barrett of Murrumbeena, (Melbourne, Australia). It was registered HG522 in the state of Victoria. This number was issued in 1972 according to the VicRoads web site. It had a New Caledonia number plate, (22932 NC), under the Victorian number plate. I used this machine for daily transport until 1974. I road raced it in 1976 at the Calder and Winton tracks in C grade events in A.C.C.A. sanctioned open race meetings. I intended to restore it after 1974 but it ended up having a long wait dismantled in boxes. In December 2004 I started restoring it and had it nearly finished by November of 2005. I showed it at the Festival of Italian Motorcycles on the 13th of November 2005. It won the award for 'Best Ducati single'. I showed it at most of the yearly Festival of Italian motorcycles until 2018. It won the 'Best Ducati single' award every year it was shown and in 2017 it also won the 'Best in Show - restored' award. In June 2019 I sold the Mach 1. The new owner was absolutely fastidious for originality and changed the battery to an original pattern one, changed to original, using new old stock original parts: axle washer, points cover, throttle screw, battery strap, rubber under battery, Bakelite spark plug cap/rubber, tank rear hold bracket, headlight bolts and brake light switch rubber boot.

The photo was taken just before I sold it. It has indicator lights fitted that are not original. The tachometer fitted is a Veglia which was also not standard but it was a very commonly fitted option to the Mach 1.
